FIFA President Gianni Infantino has applauded Vipers SC for the hard work and determination exhibited, as they won their fifth StarTimes Uganda Premier League title.
The Venoms emerged champions with four games to go, drawing praise from the world football governing body’s boss.
“It is with pleasure that I congratulate Vipers SC for having been crowned 2021/22 champions of Uganda,” Infantino paid tribute in a letter dated May 6.
“This title could not have been achieved without the entire team’s hard work, passion and dedication, and everyone can be proud,” the letter added.
In winning the trophy, the Kitende outfit added to the ones scooped in the 2010/11, 2015/16, 2017/18, and 2019/20 seasons.
It was also the second title that Vipers won under head coach Roberto Oliveira, having been in the job for only eleven months.
His first was the 2021 Stanbic Uganda Cup that they won, having beaten BUL FC 8-1 at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru in September 2021.
The Venoms are now chasing their first-ever domestic double. They will play Mbarara City FC in the semi-finals of the Uganda Cup on Wednesday at Kakyeka Stadium.
