Uganda Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi has only lasted four months into his unrevealed contract longevity with Al-Zawraa Sports Club in Iraq.
OKwi joined Al-Zawraa in September 2022 having spent three months without a club following the end of his stay with the Rwandan side Kiyovu Sports Club.
He has left the 14-time Iraqi Premier League champions for another Iraq side Erbil Sports Club though still the details of this deal have also not been revealed.
Allan Kateregga, Sula Matovu, and Ivan Bukenya are the other Ugandan players that have played for Erbil.
Okwi has turned into a journeyman given that Erbil is his seventh club overseas.
Besides Kiyovu, Al-Zawraa, and Erbil, the 30-year-old also featured for Danish side Sonderjyske, Egyptian outfit Al-lttihad, Tunisia’s Etoile Du Sahel, and Tanzanian giants Simba and Yanga.
In Uganda, Okwi only played for the record champions of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League SC Villa.
His former club Al-Zawraa is positioned second on the 20-team Iraqi Premier League log with 25 points after 12 games while his new club Erbil is placed 12th with 12 points after the same number of games.
Erbil’s next game is against ninth-placed Naft Al-Basra on Friday, January 27th and it waits to be seen if Okwi will make his debut.
