Vipers SC has played in six Uganda Cup finals and four of those have been against teams coached by Alex Isabirye.
In the four finals, Isabirye has denied the Venoms the trophy thrice, losing only once against the Kitende based outfit.
Isabirye defeated Vipers back to back in the 2012 and 2013 finals with URA FC and defunct SC Victoria University respectively.
The 2012 final saw Isabirye’s coached side URA edge Vipers (then Bunamwaya FC), 1-0 which was the Tax Collectors’ first Uganda Cup.
In 2013, as Victoria University won their first and last Uganda Cup, lsabirye was the head coach and beat Vipers 5-3 in the shootouts in a final that had ended 1-1 in normal time.
The other two finals Isabirye played against the Venoms are recent as the head coach of BUL FC.
In 2021, Vipers won their first final against a team coached by Isabirye in three attempts when they demolished BUL 8-1.
However, he avenged that humiliating defeat with a 3-1 victory in the 2022 final to deliver BUL’s first ever trophy in their 15 years of existence.
Isabirye has won three Uganda Cups as a coach, all won against the same opponent, Vipers.
Besides the 2021 Uganda Cup success, Vipers had won it in 2016 when they beat Onduparaka FC 3-1 meaning that they have won it twice in their history.
