BUL FC head coach Alex Isabirye is set to extend his contract with the Jinja-based side for a further three years, according to the SportsPearl.

As per the online publication, Isabirye will put pen to paper this week and this brings an end to speculations surrounding his future.

There was strong interest from Express FC who intended to bring the tactician to Wankulukuku at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Red Eagles, who sacked Wasswa Bbosa in February and are currently under the guidance of James Odoch on an interim basis will have to look elsewhere.

Isabirye’s bosses at BUL are impressed with him having turned around the fortunes of the club since joining the club midway through last season.

The Oil Manufacturers finished the 2020/21 campaign in 11th position on the 16-team StarTimes Uganda Premier League log.

Although they played in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final, an 8-1 humiliation by Vipers SC was a clear indication of how dreaded their season was.

However, during Isabirye’s first full season in charge of the club, there are glimpses of a bright future.

Using relatively the youngest squad in the SUPL this term, Isabirye’s charges have had a good season, one may argue.

With two games to go until the end of the season, BUL is placed fifth with 46 points, three points adrift of fourth-placed Arua Hill SC.

They are also in the Uganda Cup semifinals where they will face Kitara Regional League side Booma FC.

While speaking to this reporter a few months back, Isabirye was always keen on staying with BUL and developing his project rather than joining Express.
