Isra’s fighting spirit earns them point against Kampala Queens

By Football256 Team

Isra saw themselves earn a point against Kampala Queens after coming from a goal down on two occasions, thanks to Fauzia Najjemba’s performance in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Kampala Queens new signing Dorah Nabukeera scored first in the 23rd minute to give hosts an advantage after Isra shot stopper Prima Mugide saved Lilian Mutuuzo’s shot but not so quick to save Nabukeera rebound.

The visitors equalised in the 30th minute when Kampala Queens goalkeeper  Cissy Nakiguba failed to stop Najjemba’s teasing shot.

Queens Head Coach Faridah Bulega made three changes at the start of second half,  Monica Namwase, Annet Nakibugwe and goal scorer Nabukeera all paved way for Mable Kusasira, Resty Nanziri and Zaina Namuleme respectively.

Queens saw themselves back in the lead in the 60th minute thanks to Mutuuzo’s bender which left Isra goalkeeper Mugide with no option rather letting the ball into the back of her net.

The home team always found themselves on the back foot in the last 20 minutes of the game after Isra brought in new signing Joan Namusisi for Desire Auma.

Isra skipper Shamirah Nalugya tapped in Fauzia Najjemba’s cross inside the goal area to make it 2-2 in the 73rd minute of the game.

With just four minutes to the end of the game Najjemba almost put the visitors in the lead, her effort was denied by the goal post and later the ball was cleared away.

Kampala Queens coach was comfortable with a point which saw her side still at the top of Elizabeth group.

“Our performance has been good, thanks to the players who have tried to give in their best but as football the last whistle tells it all,” Bulega told www.football-256.com before adding.

“Our problem always has been that when we score, my players relax and that is what am going to work on so that other teams don’t use that advantage next time.”

Her opposite Isma Nkugwa admits that their performance was good according to how Kampala Queens have been preparing.

“We were playing away from home, playing a big team and the point we have earned will be very crucial especially from the team which is on top of the table,” Nkugwa said.
