Ibrahim Orit has joined Vipers SC on a free transfer from Mbarara City and the winger says it has not been a hard decision to make given the pedigree that his new club Vipers holds.
Orit’s contract with the Ankole Lions ran out on June 30, and he, therefore, becomes a Venom as a free agent signing a three-year renewable contract.
“I am happy to be here as it has always been my dream to feature for this competitive club,” Orit told the club website on Thursday July 2nd, 2020.
“And when the coach called to express his interest, it wasn’t a hard decision to make.”
“Allow me also to thank the Mbarara City administration for the wonderful time I have had with them and all the fans for the love they showed me throughout my stay at the club,” he added.
He had spent three years at the Mbarara based side having joined them in 2017 from Regional League side Future Stars. And the 2019/2020 season stands out as his best season, as he scored four goals in the league.
And therefore, he’s expected to give Fred Kajoba more options upfront as his charges try to defend the league crown and as they also prepare to effectively represent Uganda in the CAF Champions League.
The 22-year-old becomes the four-time Uganda Premier League winner’s second signing after they signed former Express FC captain Dissan Galiwango on a four-year deal on the opening day of the transfer window.
As Vipers clinched the 2019/2020 SUPL title, Orit’s former club Mbarara City finished seventh when the league was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
