Uganda Cranes goalkeeping cocah Fred Kajoba has been sent packing from the Uganda Cranes training camp for breaching camp regulations.

Kajoba has been ordered to go home by Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry after failing to observe the set Standard Operating Procedures in the Cranes camp at the team hotel in Kisaasi.

A statement from the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) said that Kajoba was released ‘for failing to observe the camp regulations’ pertaining to COVID-19.

The statement added that Kajoba will not travel with the team when they depart the country for a pre-CHAN tournament on Monday, and will therefore not be with the cranes for the CHAN tournament.

FUFA also said that a replacement for the goalkeeping coach will be named by the FUFA Executive in due course.

Vipers SC goalkeeping coach Ibrahim Mugisha is expected to replace Kajoba. He replaced the formerfor the Cranes trip to Dubai in November.

“FUFA has released one of the Uganda Cranes technical staff Fred Kajoba,” the statement read.

“Kajoba failed to observe the camp regulations at the Team Hotel in Kisasi which require all members of the contingent to follow the strict Covid-19 SOPs.”

“Kajoba will therefore not travel with the Uganda Cranes on Monday, December 28, 2020 when they fly out of the country for a pre- CHAN tournament in Cameroon,” the statement added.

The Cranes team continued their preparations with a single training session on Friday, but will resume double sessions throughout the weekend before they fly out for the pre-CHAN mini tournament.

The mini-tournament will feature Niger, Zambia, Uganda and hosts Cameroon and will be played between January 1-7 in Yaoundé.

Uganda is drawn in group B alongside neighbours Rwanda, Togo and defending champions Morocco.
