It is a star-studded race as Derrick Kakooza, Steven Mukwala and Sadat Anaku vie for the Fortebet Real Star Award for March.
The three forwards were outstanding in March netting goals game in game out and hence their nomination.
Kakooza was away on national duty with the Uganda Hippos who reached the U20 Africa Cup of Nations final in Mauritania.
Despite his side falling 2-0 to Ghana in the final, the Police FC forward individually impressed at the tournament where he scored five goals finishing as top scorer.
URA FC’s Mukwala, is the leading goal scorer in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on 10 goals but half of those came in the month of March.
The former Vipers’ striker starred by scoring the winner against his boyhood club as URA edged his former side 2-1.
He netted a brace in URA’s 3-0 win over Onduparaka FC, was on target once as Sam Ssibmwa’s side defeated Kyetume FC 2-0 and also scored the only goal of the game against UPDF FC.
After missing the start of the season, KCCA FC forward Sadat Anaku returned in fine form scoring five goals in March.
Anaku scored a brace twice when KCCA FC defeated UPDF and Busoga United FC 6-1 and 4-0 respectively. His other goal came in a one-all stalemate in the Lugogo derby with Police.
The winner of this tight contest will be awarded on Tuesday, April 6 at Route256 restaurant, Lugogo.
Uganda Hippos goalkeeper Jack Komakech currently holds the accolade which he won in February when he beat Steven Sserwadda and George Ssenkaaba.
Irene Nakalembe, Joseph Chwinya-ai and Martha Babirye are the nominees in the Golf category.
While in the Rugby category, Kobs duo in Justine Kimono and Pius Ogena and Hippos’ Maxwell Ebonga are nominated.
