Kampala University’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stage of the Pepsi University Football League suffered a hindrance after a 2-1 loss to Makerere University Business School on Thursday at Villa Park.
MUBS took the lead through Alex Mandela as early as the 16th minute after a good possessive game in the early stages.
Saidi Munir doubled the visitors’ lead in the 42nd minute to make it difficult for the home who badly needed to get back into the game.
Kampala University’s only goal in the game came late in the 90th minute, Brian Omirambe converted from 12 yards.
It should be noted that this was KU’s first loss this season after finishing its first-round games in goalless draws, it was also their very first time to score in this year’s competition after four games.
The result means MUBS remain second in group D on the same points (eight) with leaders UCU, KU is in the third position with only three points.
If they are to qualify for the knockout stages, Kampala University need to win their remaining two games against UCU and IUEA, at home and away respectively.
The action continues on Sunday when champions Kyambogo University visit Busitema University.
