In some parts of the world, for particular games, a team’s form has never been a concern, the belief is always what matters; it’s always high that the team you back will go into games to win.
With four days to the first Kariakoo Derby of the 2022/2023 Ligi Kuu Bara season, Simba and Yanga fans are not any different, they are raving.
James Thomas, a die-hard Yanga fan believes they have a great squad with the right fire and; “A strong team spirit and determination.”
“I know we have some players who are top quality players like Fiston Kalala Mayele who can deliver any day,” he told Football256.
“Bernard Morisson also will be on fire that day so I have a strong belief we are going to win,” Thomas added.
Isaac Tendwa and Peter Bihemo have been best friends for over two decades, now in their late 20s, their love for Simba can only be equated to marriage.
And for them; “It never crosses our mind that Simba can lose a game, especially a derby,” Tendwa tells this reporter.
Ibrahim Nehemaya trusts the team; “and I hope the team will make it because we have a fit strong team and I am not worried about them.”
The tickets are already on sale at 15 different selling points and a stroll in downtown Dar Es Salaam is a reminder that on Sunday, either make your to the Benjamin Mpaka Stadium or in front of a TV to catch the action.
Bihemo adds: “It is insane to think of even losing, especially against Yanga, it is something that never goes down well for anyone.”
And these are sentiments shared by millions around Dar Es Salaam and the entire country, as the Kariakoo Derby has been treated as a national symbol for over 80 years.
