Proline Football Club director Mujib Kasule has addressed reports regarding Bright Anukani’s future and admitted that the midfielder deserves to play top-flight football rather than in the FUFA Big League.

Despite Proline being relegated, Anukani enjoyed a standout maiden season in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and his stunning performances caught the attention of a number of clubs both locally and abroad.

“Both the club and the player believe it’s better for Bright (Anukani) to continue playing at the highest level possible in this country or even beyond,” Kasule told Football256.

“He is national team material, so he doesn’t belong to the Big League and because of that the club won’t in any way whatsoever be selfish to him by dragging him down to the second division, no that won’t happen,” he added.

After extending his stay at Proline by a further year until 2022 on Saturday, this website understands that Anukani will be joining KCCA on a one-year loan deal.

Kasule further pointed out that he prefers the player joins the 13-time league champions because they will facilitate his development further.

“To us, player development is equally important as trying to come back therefore we’ll be really considerate to him as a player and set him on another path as for now.”

“And we would want him to play preferably at KCCA because both clubs share a lot in common including style of play which very well suits the development of a player like Anukani,” Kasule said.

The playmaker is expected will walk straight into Mike Mutebi’s line up, slotting in just behind the striker taking up the creative role previously played by Allan Okello who departed the club for Algeria’s Paradou AC in January.

KCCA has already confirmed Ashraf Mugume, Charles Lwanga and Stefano Mazengo this transfer window while strikers Brian Aheebwa and Ismail Mugulusi are also closely linked to joining the club.
