KCCA FC has confirmed that they have parted ways with midfielder Lawrence Bukenya, with the player now set to complete a permanent move to Wakiso Giants.
This was confirmed by KCCA FC communications officer Moses Magero through KCCA FC TV show on Sanyuka TV on Sunday.
“Lawrence Bukenya will be leaving the club this transfer window and will be making a permanent move to Wakiso Giants, we wish him all the best,” Magero said.
Bukenya joined Wakiso Giants in August last year on a season-long loan deal and impressed during his stay at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, prompting the Purple Sharks exercise the option to make the move permanent.
The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive first season at the Kabaka Kyabaggu, playing in 20 games across all competitions, scoring one goal in the 5-0 demolition of MYDA in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarter finals.
He missed three Uganda Premier League games against Kyetume, Busoga United and Vipers after suffering an injury in February and has not played since.
Bukenya joined KCCA’s junior side from QPR Soccer Academy, and was soon promoted to the club’s senior team in 2017 alongside Julius Poloto, Allan Okello, Herbert Achai and Mustafa Kizza
He made his debut for the club in February 2017 against Lungujja Galaxy in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, going on to be voted as the tournament’s MVP as KCCA clinched the title in 2017.
At KCCA, Bukenya won two Uganda Cup titles, the Uganda Premier League twice and the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Club Championship.
Bukenya has now joined fellow midfielder Tom Masiko who also joined Wakiso Giants on permanent deal from Vipers SC after a season long loan deal.
Other Wakiso Giants signings include defender Edward Satro, winger Pius Kaggwa and midfielder Ibrahim Owen Kasule.
