Uganda Premier League giants KCCA FC have terminated the contract of defender Hassan Jurua due to what they have termed as a breach of contract.
Jurua was promoted from the KCCA development side to the senior team in 2019 and had a running contract until the end of the 2023/24 season.
“KCCA have parted ways with player Hassan Jurua Alidro over a breach of contract,” the club statement released on Wednesday partly read.
“The club would like to thank the player for his services over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
“The club will not make any further comment on the matter,” the statement concluded.
However, it is understood that absenteeism is what has ended the relationship between the two parties.
During the 2021/22 season, Jurua had stamped a starting berth in the KCCA team but since the beginning of the current season, he has fallen in the pecking order with Geoffrey Wasswa and Mustafa Mujuzi the preferred center-back partnership.
For starters, it is important to note that Jurua is a young brother of Vipers SC defender Bashir Asiku.
In 2020, he nearly lost his life to malaria which resulted in further health complications, and was admitted to Kampala International Hospital under the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
But with the support from KCCA, Jurua managed to beat off illness and recover well to continue with his football career.
