KCCA will have some breathing space on top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log after strikers Patrick Kaddu and substitute Mike Mutyaba’s effort gave them a 2-0 win over BUL FC.
The win took KCCA FC to 44 points, six behind holders and second placed Vipers Sports Club who had settled for a one all draw against Tooro United in Buhinga on Tuesday.
It wasn’t the best of games for the hosts though much as they looked the superior side on paper from the onset, BUL put up a better display.
In one of the few clear cut chances KCCA FC got, Muzamir Mutyaba released Allan Okello, the latter was left one on one with the goalkeeper Hannington Sebwalunyo but couldn’t bury the chance after just 17 minutes.
Ssebwalunyo parried it way but still in the goal mouth before Wilson Otong eventually cleared it off the line for a corner.
BUL were contesting for every ball, and actually taking the games to KCCA FC, the latter played much of the long ball but the intended target Patrick Kaddu couldn’t be got.
That long ball failed to work for KCCA FC, Mustafa Kizza’s crosses from the left were always astray without any intended target and it affected KCCA FC’s on and off rhythm.
Julius Poloto on the right barely had an impact, much as Muzamir Mutyaba and Nicholas Kasozi’s prowess in the midfield was largely visible, it couldn’t trickle down the team.
On the other hand, BUL were enjoying themselves, Hamis Tibita, Yunus Sibira and Charles Ssebutinde troubled KCCA FC.
Eventually Kizza got it right, Mutyaba connected well but straight in the hands of Ssebwalunyo with five minutes to the break.
Four minutes into the second half, Kizza swung in one, Kaddu rose highest but could only guide it wide.
After series of missed opportunities, the breakthrough eventually came in 68th minutes for KCCA FC.
Ssebwalunyo held the ball before dropping it on the ground to start play, Kaddu gained possession and made no mistake.
Eleven minutes to time, substitute Mike Mutyaba pounced on a Timothy Awany free kick to make it 2-0, that goal came with a sigh of relief on the KCCA FC technical wing.
KCCA FC held into the slim ahead of their next outing against Police FC on 21st at Lugogo. BUL remain fourth on 30 points despite the loss.
