KCCA FC edged closer to the playoff round of the 2018/2019 Total CAF Confederations Cup when they defeated Mtibwa Sugar 3-0 on Saturday at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
Second half goals from Allan Kyambadde, Patrick Kaddu and Allan Okello saw off a Mtibwa side that had proved to be stubborn in the first stanza of the game.
Three minutes into the second half Kyambadde exonerated himself with a powerful shot that was too hard for Mtibwa Sugar’s custodian Shaaban Shaaban to tame.
He had done enough to stop Kyambadde and company through the first half.
Kaddu then made it 2-0 with a brilliant header from Allan Kyambadde’s well weighed cross in the 78th minute, Shaaban who had done enough cross reading was left stranded.
Five minutes to fulltime, Okello put the result beyond reach, he picked the ball from Mike Mutyaba, dribbled past two defenders before curling his shot into the back of net.
Like the saying; 3-0 doesn’t tell the story on the pitch, KCCA missed several chances throughout the game.
KCCA manager Mike Mutebi slammed his players for squandering lots of chances during the game.
“The players were somehow careless. We would have scored like seven goals though we are satisfied with the result,” Mutebi said in the post match press conference.
“The return leg will be end-to-end affair, because our players know what to do, where and when,” He added.
The two sides will meet in the return leg in Tanzania next Saturday on 22nd.
