Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Lord Mayor Honorable Erias Lukwago who doubles as the KCCA FC Patron has praised the fans, players, and coaches for the recent performance.

Lukwago was amongst the many people who turned up for the 2022 edition of the KCCA FC Fans Gala at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday.

“I would like to, first of all, thank you all KCCA FC fans for always turning up whenever called upon the connection between you and your team is not taken for granted,” Lukwago said before adding.

“This season started on the wrong note for us but you did not give up on your team and that shows that the team is part of you.”

“With your endless support, the players and the coaches have managed to turn the results around and as we speak we are playing well and top of the Uganda Premier League table.”

“Losing to teams like Arua Hill SC is intolerable but I think it helped a lot in showing how the team must improve and I would like to commend the players and the coaches for the job well done so far.”

“We should therefore remain focused and if we can continue this way we should be winning the trophy by the end of the season.

After 13 games, Morley Byekwaso’s charges are positioned first on the 15-team log with 29 points and they will climax their first round with a visit to Kavumba Recreation Grounds to face Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Tuesday, December 20th.

The 13-time UPL champion’s performance against fellow top sides has lifted them high. They defeated Vipers SC 1-0, SC Villa, and Express FC 3-0 apiece and drew 1-1 with URA FC.

At the Fans Gala on Sunday, four teams participated in various sports activities including football, netball, and athletics among others.

The four teams were named after the club’s legends Tom Masiko, Sam Simbwa, Paul Ssali, and John Latigo.

Team Masiko finished as champions in the football category after defeating Team Latigo 3-1 in the post-match shootouts following a 0-0 stalemate in normal time.

It is Team Ssali, Team Simbwa, and Team Latigo that finished second, third, and fourth with 68, 55, and 53 points respectively.

As Team Masiko took home 1.8 million, Team Ssali, Team Simbwa, and Team Latigo were rewarded with one million, 700,000 and 500, 000 Uganda shillings respectively.
