KCCA FC will go into their league tie against Express on Saturday well aware that a win will put a 13th league title in touching distance after Vipers’ 2-1 loss at the hands of URA on good Friday.
Victory over Express will take KCCA FC to 56 points, nine points ahead of Vipers on the 16-team log with three games to go, something Mike Mutebi would love to see his side achieve.
“We have to take the advantage and put pressure off ourselves,” Mutebi told www.fotoball-256.com.
“But with that aside, we also cannot run away from the traditional rivalry between KCCA and Express but we must win matches in order to win the league.”
“We shall treat the game as we have treated other matches, Express were the first team to damage us in the first round which gave them a lot of confidence,” Mutebi added referring to the 3-2 loss they suffered at Wankulukuku in the first round.
KCCA FC won’t have Nicholas Kasozi, Mike Mutyaba, Julius Poloto and Mawejje Muwada who are out due to injuries.
In the last five league games between the two sides, KCCA have managed four wins while Express have won once in the process, the latter will be looking at improving that record.
“It’s a big game between the two clubs, it is going to be a very good game because my boys are very prepared, they have trained for almost a week preparing for this game, I think we are going to win the game,” Express FC head coach George Ssemwogerere said.
“We still have a big job to do in the league because our target is to play in the Super Eight next season, if we win Uganda Cup the Super Eight will help us prepare for CAF Confederations Cup,” he added.
Express are currently 11th on the 16-team log with 33 points from 26 outings, after KCCA, they will play Kirinya Jinja SSS, Bright Stars and Onduparaka FC in their remaining league fixtures.
