KCCA FC suffered their third consecutive defeat in a row for the first time under Mike Mutebi in the league after succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to BUL Bidco FC for a second season running.

Musa Esenu’s effort placed the hosts in the lead at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Jinja before Robert Mukoghotya scored a second a minute into the second half.

Charles Lwanga pulled back one for the visitors late on after Brian Aheebwa had missed from the spot.

Mutebi awarded Moses Kalanzi his StarTimes Uganda Premier League debut but his day would end rather shortly as he was brought off after 35 minutes for Juma Balinya.

The first stanza of the game started on a high as BUL’s forward Joseph Semujju ran rings around KCCA’s backline but goalkeeper Charles Lukwago stood firm to keep his side in the game.

In the 33rd minute, BUL found the first goal of the game through former KCCA striker Esenu who chipped the ball over Lukwago thanks to Semujju’s well-laid pass.

The game picked up pace as KCCA was looking for a leveller. Mugume engineered an attack from the middle, combining with Anukani but Mugume’s shot was kept out by BUL goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.

With halftime looming, KCCA had a great chance to level matters as Samson Kigozi was picked out by Kezironi Kizito’s cross, but the forward failed to make a clean connection with his header

The Kasasiro Boys made two changes at the start of the second half bringing off Samuel Kato and Keziron for Filbert Obenchan and Loro Mazengo.

But it is the hosts who doubled their lead, Robert Mukoghotya beating Lukwago from a freekick.

Authur Kyesimira’s charges continued to pile pressure on their visitors but again KCCA had Lukwago to thank on the day.

In the 83rd minute, KCCA were awarded a penalty after BUL’s Walter Ochola handled the ball inside the area. Brian Aheebwa stepped up to take the penalty but Kimera saved from his effort.

In the 90th minute of the game, Charles Lwanga pulled a goal back for KCCA but it was too little too late to wrestle at least a point back.

The result means that the 13-time league champions drop to fifth on the log and could drop even further going by results elsewhere. BUL FC on the other hand rise to the 11th with seven points on the 16-team log.

How they lined up:

KCCA FC XI: Charles Lukwago (G), Samuel Kato, Peter Magambo, Herbert Achai, Moses Kalanzi, Bright Anukani, Keziron Kizito, Ashiraf Mugume, Samson Kigozi, Moses Aliro, Brian Aheebwa

BUL FC XI: Abdul Kimera, Jimmy Kulaba, Walter Ochora, Ramathan Dudu, Godfrey Akol, Aggrey Madoi, Robert Mukoghotya, Ibrahim Mugulusi, Musa Esenu, Joseph Semujju, Fedrick Kigozi
