Kenyan Premier League side, AFC Leopards are courting Sofapaka’s Ugandan striker Umaru Kasumba ahead of 2019/20 season.
The center-forward who was in good form for Batoto Ba Mungu last season scoring 17 goals is a free agent after his contract expired.
A number of Kenyan Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in the former SC Villa hitman, moneybags Wazito, Gor Mahia, Tusker and Bandari are said to be eyeing the striker.
It’s however Leopards who have made a formal approach for the player. According to sources, Ingwe who are rebuilding ahead of the 2019/20 season have approached the player through his representatives formally.
“It’s true we are interested in Kasumba. We have made a formal approach for him and we are in talks,” a source from the den disclosed before adding.
“His initial monetary demands were a bit high but we hope to reach some form of agreement.”
Kasumba has been one of the best strikers in the Kenyan Premier League since he moved to Sofapaka in mid-2017.
He scored 11 league goals for the half a season he played for Sofapaka. The 2018 season saw him bag 10 goals for improving his tally during the 2018/19 season where he scored 17 times. Tanzania giants Simba and Zambia’s Nkana are also said to be trailing the striker.
