Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay had taken a swipe at rivals AFC Leopards after Sunday’s defeat in the Mashemeji Derby at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.

K’ogalo maintained their dominance over their arch rivals with a 3-1 triumph. Leopards last defeated Gor Mahia in March 2016.

Goals from Nicholas Kipkirui and Jacques Tuyisenge put Gor Mahia on course of a comfortable victory before Vincent Oburu hit a consolation goal for Ingwe.

In an interview, Oktay chided their rivals saying they did not offer any competition. He further stated that his side should have won by a larger margin.

“This did not look like a derby. I can’t believe it. Apart from the numbers it is impossible to know that this was a derby,” he said.

“We dominated the game, we created and missed many chances, were able to play great football. They didn’t give us the expected competition,” Oktay added.

His Leopards counterpart, Andre Casa Mbungo admitted that the opponents were better and is looking forward ro beefing up the team at the end of the season.

“We had come to give them a challenge but they were better than us today. I will ask the office to provide a good budget so that we can make good signings at the end of the season. That is the only way we can compete favourably against Gor, “he said.

With three games to go, Gor Mahia lead the KPL table on 69 points, eight points ahead of second placed Bandari, Leopards are a staggering 10th, 30 points behind Gor Mahia.
