English coach Steven Pollack is set to be appointed Gor Mahia coach following Hassan Oktay’s decision to step down from the position.
The Turkish tactician formally resigned from his position as K’Ogalo coach on Tuesday ending his eight-month stint with the Kenyan Premier League champions.
During his time in charge, Gor retained the Kenyan Premier League title and for the first time ever in history reached the Caf Confederation Cup quarter-final stage.
“Kindly accept my resignation as Gor Mahia FC head coach effective today, the sixth day of August 2019,”read Oktay’s letter to Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier.
“As you are aware, the decision has been forced on me by the personal challenges I am facing here in Europe.”
“I wish to thank you and the entire club, including the fans for the opportunity you accorded me to manage this great club.”
I also wish you guys all the best in your forthcoming assignments,” the letter concluded.
Meanwhile, Pollack is expected in the country on Wednesday and he is set to be officially unveiled as the new head coach.
The former Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko coach will be tasked with making sure Gor Mahia at least reach the group stages of the 2019/2020 Total CAF Champions League.
