Police FC has confirmed that left-footed winger Ruben Kimera has signed a new two-year contract with the club until 2022.

Kimera whose contract expired in June 2020, had stalled over agreeing on a new deal with the club, but recent transfer activity by the club seems to have settled any doubts over the club’s ambition going forward.

The 24-year-old winger who can also play at left-back has failed to wrestle down a regular starting role under Abdallah Mubiru.

Mubiru is understood to be a strong admirer of the silky winger’s game is one of many who have but has been frustrated by the failure of the player to turn his immense talent into strong performances for the club.

But the coach remains optimistic that Kimera will soon come of age and grow into the player his talents demand.

Kimera played 15 times for the Cops last season scoring no goals, and it is a statistic that he has set out to improve next season.

“I feel so good for renewing my contract. I’m ready to work hard for the team and I’m hoping for the best this coming season.” Kimera told the club’s website last season.

“I hope to score and create more goals compared to the previous seasons,” he added.

Kimera becomes the ninth payer to renew his contract at the club after Joseph Ssentume, Edward Kiryowa, Joseph Odong, Musa Matovu, Mubarak Nsubuga, Yusuf Ssozi, Dennis Rukundo and Bashir Kabuye all agreed to new contracts.

Police has also confirmed eight new arrivals including Tony Mawejje, Eric Ssenjobe, Hassan Mohamood, Tom Ikara, Arnold Ssembuya, Sammon Oloka, Derrick Ochan and Muwadda Mawejje.
