Goals from Jerome Kirya and David Bagoole gave Kirinya Jinja SSS a heavy win against StarTimes Uganda Premier League relegation victims Nyamityobora FC at The Mighty Arena, Jinja on Saturday evening.

Youngster Kirya grabbed Kirinya’s opener in the 39th his first goal of the season, he curled to the extreme right angle beyond the goalkeeper Denis Otim’s stretch inside the area.

Bagoole then doubled the hosts’ lead to ease pressure on them just eight minutes to time, he delivered a screaming beauty from a free kick that went top of the four-man wall and into the near angle after Faizal Muwawu was brought down outside the area.

The visitors then pulled one back through Ibrahim Dada Juma in added time through a penalty.

Kirinya Jinja SSS is now on 30 points in eighth position while Nyamityobora is 15th with just 13 points from 22 outings.

In Mwererwe, Bright Stars picked their first win in five league outings with an impressive 3-0 win over Ndejje Lions at Champions Stadium Mwererwe.

The home team were already up inside 15 minutes through Jamir Kalisa’s strike before Juma Ssebaduka doubled the lead in the 55th minute of the game.

With nine minutes to time, Brian Kayanja added the third goal to seal it for the home team, this eased pressure on Bright Stars coach Fred Kajoba who was in the hot seat due to lack of wins.

Bright Stars is now 10th with 28 points while Ndejje remained in danger zone in 14th position on 16 points with just eight games to go.

At Green Light Stadium, Onduparaka fought hard to get a narrow 2-1 win over Maroons to maintain their fifth position.

Ceasar Okhuti fired the home team up as earlier as the first minute of the game before Bronson Nsubuga brought matters to level terms in the 70th minute.

Rashid Toha grabbed a late winner with seven minutes to the break, it was Toha’s sixth goal of the season for Onduparaka.

Onduparaka is now fifth on the table on 34 points while Maroons are 12th position and with 22 points they are six points above the relegation zone from 22 games. 

At Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal, Tooro United moved away with a 1-0 win over Abdallah Mubiru’s Police courtesy of a Steven Omvia goal in the 28th minute.

Tooro climbed up to the seventh with 32 points while Police is now ninth on 29 points.
