KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi admitted that his side played against a very competitive side that could have upset them despite a 2-0 win away to Kirinya Jinja SSS on Wednesday.
Mike Mutyaba scored twice in each half for the Kasasiro Boys on the day to earn the 12-time champions a victory at the Mighty Arena in Jinja that saw them keep their four-point lead.
“We played against a very competitive team,” Mutebi said in a post-match press conference.
“Kirinya played very good football and I think they had the ball more in the final third than we did but we are happy with the result and it gives more confidence to reclaim the title,” he added.
KCCA maintained their top of the table status on 52 points from 24 games while Vipers, the closest title chasers are on 48 points, they also won 2-0 against Maroons at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
Kirinya Jinja SSS remained eighth on 33 points with six games to the end of the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
In the next game, KCCA hosts Vipers at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo on April 4th which is in every sense the title decider of this season.
The winner of the clash between the two sides might end up as the league winner as both sides lie their only silverware hopes of this season in the league.
