Ugandan striker George Abege came off the bench to score a last minute goal that helped his side Kariobangi Sharks salvage a point in a one-all draw with AFC Leopards on Wednesday afternoon at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.

Leopards went into the game as clear favorites and got to a perfect start when Whyvonne Isuza scored inside the first 30 seconds nodding home from a Paul Were cross.

The game slowly turned into an end to end affair after the opening goal. Sydney Lokale, Duke Abuya and Erick Kapaito were Sharks’ main danger men while Were, Isuza and Vincent Oburu severally came close for Ingwe.

Things went from bad to worse for Sharks when young right-back Ian Taifa was sent off in the early stages of the second half for a second bookable offense.

Despite being a man down, Sharks remained the better side. Abege was introduced for Lokale and nearly scored with his first shot, a thunderbolt from a loose ball which was saved by Leopards keeper Jairus Adira.

Abege finally broke Leopards’ hearts in the third minute of added time when he rose high to head home from a free kick, a result that preserved their unbeaten record against AFC Leopards in the Kenyan Premier League.
