Derrick Otanga came off the bench to score a double for Sony Sugar as they overcame beleaguered Western Stima 2-0 in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Saturday at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
The match was Salim Babu’s first as Western Stima coach after he replaced Paul Ogai earlier this week. It was however a rude welcome for Babu, from Otanga, a striker he signed during his time as Sony Sugar coach.
After a barren first half, Otanga was introduced in the 46th minute for Daniel Otieno and he went on to score in the 66th and 84th minutes to help his side pick maximum points on the road. The defeat extended Stima’s winless run in the Kenyan Premier League to 13 matches.
Ugandan duo of Robert Achema and Andrew Waiswa featured for Sony Sugar while Joel Abaliwano, Junior Mukisa and Villa Omrachan turned out for Stima. Stima is 14th in the Kenyan Premier League table with 27 points while Sony is 7th with 38 points.
