Umaru Kasumba was once again on target as his side, Sofapaka returned to winning ways with a 3-2 triumph over Posta Rangers at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Thursday.
Having registered a 2-2 draw against Mathare United last time out, Batoto Ba Mungu went all out in search of a vital win. After just 26 minutes into the game, Kenya U23 striker John Avire gave them the lead.
Despite creating many chances, John Baraza’s side couldn’t get a second goal in the first stanza of the game.
Two minutes into the second half, Kasumba got his 15th goal of the season to go joint top on the top scorers’ chart with Allan Wanga. The forward rounded off Posta’s keeper Eliud Emase before firing into an empty net.
Three minutes later, it was 3-0. George Maelo beat Emanse with a long range lob after seeing him off his line.
Posta fought and pulled one back in the 56th minute through newsboy Felix Oluoch before Francis Nambute ensured a nervy finish to the game with a 71st minute goal.
Sofapaka remain second on the log 18 team log with 52 points, six behind leaders Gor Mahia, Posta on the other hand is 15th with 25 points.
