Uganda representatives at the CAF Women Champions League zonal qualifiers, Lady Doves will be playing against Simba Queens at Karasani Stadium on Tuesday, August 31.

Lady Doves picked up an emphatic 5-0 win against FAD in their opening game, and a win against Simba Queens will take them to six points hence earning an automatic semi-final slot.

“We want to earn an automatic slot which means winning against Simba Queens,” Lady Doves coach Rajab Buyinza told the press shortly after the last training before adding; “We take each game as a final, and there is no room for complacency.”

“We are all winners here because each team is a representative of a whole country. We do not have time to undermine our opponents but rather put up the required fights.”

“We thank God for the win in the first game and ask Him to give us another tomorrow. The players are in shape. Even those that got a few knocks are now ready to go.”

According to coach Buyinza, they are destined for maximum points if the players follow the instructions because the game plan is on point and is only waiting to be executed.

“We need to close up all gaps and press them so that we can penalise them for each ball lost. We need to avoid complacency and get an early lead.”

“We need to benefit from each mistake they commit. We ought to be sobber and so much attentive to take every chance home.”

Forward Fazila Ikwaput missed the team’s training on Monday, but Buyinza clarified that it was a decision taken by the coaches to allow her more rest and have her in better shape for the game.

”It is a choice we took as coaches to rest her because she got a few knocks in our first game, and we need her in the best physical shape for the game on Tuesday,” he said.

Skipper and custodian Daisy Nakaziro underlined the need for more clean sheets noting she wants to take the golden glove back to Uganda.

“All of us have to give in our all ahead of tomorrow’s game. The attitude should be positive and believe that we can win. The coaches have guided us well, and I believe it is left with us to deliver.”

“The team we are facing is strong, but we are equally strong. We need to be clinical and hardly waste any of the chances so that we take hold of the game,” she said.

Simba Queens come to the game after earning a 4-1 victory against Burundi’s PVP FC at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday, August 28.

Aisha Mnunka ties with Fazila Ikwaput at two goals from one game and both will come to this game yearning to exceed their tally.
