Senegal national head coach Aliou Cisse will have his salary increased by by the Senegalese government according to ghanasoccernet.com
The West African revealed that Senegal Sports Minister Matar Ba revealed the development at the reading his department’s budget for the year 2019 on Sunday.
“We are in dialogue with the Football Federation, I can assure you that we are working intelligently with regards to the national team coach, we can inform you that we are working to re-value his salary,” Ba told the website before adding.
”We must remember that we are the ones who paid his salary until then, we acceded to the request of the Federation to appoint a locally based as head coach of the national team.”
Cisse made history when he became the first captain to guide Senegal to the South Korea and Japan FIFA World Cup in 2002, he repeated the feat as coach at the 2018 edition in Russia.
According to Ba, the sports ministry trust Cissé’s expertise and thus leading to the salary increment.
“And it is because we believe in the expertise of the local coach that’s why we have acceded to the request for the upgrading his salary,” he added.
This also comes at the back of Senegal qualifying for the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations under the stewardship of the former national team midfielder.
