Pyramids might have missed out on the Egyptian league but chances of them ending the year with domestic silverware are high.
Under the stewardship of former Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre and Ugandan international Abdu Lumala, Pyramids defeated Al Ahly 1-0 in the Egyptian Cup Round of 16 on Saturday in Alexandria .
The goal by Eric Traory was orchestrated by Lumala’s pin point ground cross in the 55th minute, the latter was making his Pyramids’ debut.
Pyramids who now qualify for the quarterfinals are yet to lose to Al Ahly in three meetings now, they did a double on the latter in the league.
Desabre has so far been in charge of two games, his first was the 4-1 win over Etoile Du Congo in the preliminary qualifying round of the 2019/2020 Total CAF Confederation Cup.
The two sides meet again on August 23rd with the winner qualifying for the first round qualifying round.
