Uganda Cranes forward Kizito Luwagga has provided a bit of advice to KCCA youngsters Allan Okello and Mustafa Kizza, as the pair keep on growing from strength to strength both at club and the national level.

Okello and Kizza are currently part of the Cranes squad preparing for the CHAN play-off round qualifier return leg against Burundi, on Saturday 19th at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

The duo’s performances for KCCA and the Cranes have caught the eyes of a number of suitors on the African continent and in Europe.

Okello was subject of a week long trials at Swiss side FC Zurich, while Kizza also underwent trials at Spanish La-liga outfit Real Valladolid.

As they wait on their chance to join the lucrative professional football in Europe, Luwagga who has been under professional ranks in Europe since 2012, has asked them to remain patient and focused because professional football calls for sacrifice and absolute determination.

“We are blessed with talent in Uganda from the past years but not everyone makes it to the top level despite the much potential at a young age,” Luwagga told

“Currently the young crop of players in the country, that include Allan Okello and Mustafa Kiiza is very promising but they need to focus a lot, Professional football is like dedicating your whole life which is not easy but with total sacrifice, focus and determination they can get there.” He added.

Luwagga had his breakthrough at Vipers in 2010, joining the club from their development side St. Mary’s SS Kitende. And was part of the exciting Vipers team that won the club its first league trophy in 2010.

Key to Luwagga’s development was head coach Edward Golola, who helped him develop as a young player for the three years he was at the club.

The 25-year old has also advised Okello and Kizza to listen as much to their Coach Mike Mutebi because what he is offering them now will be helpful in their career even at a more professional level.

“I believe Okello and Kiiza are talented with a good coach in Mutebi who equips them with what is exactly here. Although it comes with some little pressure as you do not have the comfort of being at home,”

“Plus, they will need a bit of luck and prayers, because I know there is a good team out there that is in need of a player like Okello or Kiiza but they don’t know so with prayer God can open their doors.” Luwagga continued.

Luwagga has been capped 38 times for the Uganda Cranes, since he made his debut in 2012, and has scored just one goal for the national team. He was also part of the Cranes team that played at the 2017 AFCON

At club level, his career has traversed seven clubs, with stints at Leixoes, Cvilha, Feirense, Rio Ave in Portugal, Politehnica Iasi in Romania, Bate Barisov in Belarus and currently Shaktar Karangandy in Khazkhstan.
