Midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has dismissed reports linking him to a return to his former side Express FC.
Reports have been rife that Lwanga who recently mutually agreed to end his relationship with Egyptian side Tanta SC one year into his three-year contract is poised for a return to Wankuluku.
There has been reported interest from the six-time Uganda Premier League champions, but Lwanga maintains there is no contact with the club as he weighs on his future.
“There is nothing going on between me and Express FC,” Lwanga told The SportsNation before adding.
“I am waiting optimistically to return to the pitch and play but I have not signed with any team yet,” he added.
Lwanga featured for the Red Eagles in the 2014/15 season before joining rivals SC Villa in 2015.
At Villa he stayed for two seasons growing into one of the best holding midfielders in the Ugandan league.
In 2017, he left Villa for Vipers SC where he played two seasons captaining the side in the 2018/19 season.
Lwanga was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that played at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.
The defensive midfielder is unlikely to be part of the national team for a doubleheader against South Sudan in November. But if he’s to keep in coach Johnathan McKinstry’s plans, he must find a club where to ply his trade from.
