Magogo blatantly claims CHAN players have no right to demand for remunerations

By Allan Damba

FUFA Moses Magogo has hit out at CHAN players claiming that they deserve ‘no pay given their ‘shitty’ performance at the African Nations Championships (CHAN).

Uganda fell miserably at another attempt in the tournament that is exclusive to players playing in their respective national leagues failing to progress from the group stages.

The Cranes collected just a single point in their draw to Rwanda before consecutive losses to Togo and Morroco confirmed a disastrous performance.

At the end of the rather infamous journey – the fifth consecutive time the Cranes have played at CHAN, Magogo dropped a bombshell as he questioned what justified their demands for extra allowances.

Magogo ranted, “Abo abasambi mu Chan baasamba biki?” loosely translated from Luganda, “What kind of performance did those players produce at CHAN?”

“When you demand for money, what have you put on table? They went there and played ‘shitty’ football. Okay, what are your demands? Why are you demanding?,” he added.

In more defence, this time with more detail than emotion, he highlighted that the boys would be paid as FUFA had to take things one at a time as institution protocol.

“We have spent just two months since CHAN ended but government cycle is three months. So there is no big difference and when the right time comes, we shall pay those players,” he said.

Questions have since been raised whether; the public criticism of the players was called for while questions linger on whether the players will sit down, be humble and wait for a cash deposit message on their accounts.
