Through former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango, KCCA FC invited Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena and he has accepted the invitation.

In a bid to improve the club’s technical team knowledge, the 13-time Uganda Premier League champions thought of the South Africa International.

Mokwena will be in Uganda for one week starting this Friday, June 17 to Wednesday, June 22 according to the KCCA FC website.

It will be the second time that Mokwena visits the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo given that he was there in March 2017 as KCCA hosted Sundowns in the first round of the CAF Champions League.

Then Mokwena was still serving in the capacity of assistant coach at Mamelodi under then-head coach Pitso Mosimane.

The former succeeded the latter in September 2020 when Mosimane left for the Egyptian side Al Ahly, however, by the time of filing this report he had parted ways with the Red Devils.

Mokwena alongside his co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has had a successful spell so far, especially last season.

Onyango’s club side won a treble in the DSTV Premiership, MTN8, and the Nedbank Cup.

Much as sharing knowledge with head coach Morley Byekwaso and his technical team is the main purpose of the visit, KCCA believes that there is more to it.

KCCA’s five-year Strategic Plan under which they look at Strategic Partnerships and Alliances is still on.

And therefore Mokwena’s visit could help spark collaboration between KCCA and Mamelodi.
