Tony Odur’s 85th minute goal from 12 yards secured a point for Express FC against Maroons in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Solomon Walusimbi had scored for the visitors earlier in the 53rd minute of the game that saw striker Brian Umony and Tony Odur seat on the bench as Express again didn’t start with a natural striker.
The duo later came on and it was Umony who was fouled in the area before odur drew the game level to save some face.
The last time Express played at home in the league they lost 2-0 to Police, a result that led to the sacking of Kefa Kisala 24 hours later.
The draw means Express’ head coach George Ssemwogerere will have to wait for another day to pick his first home win in the league.
Express push up to ninth the 16 team log with 25 points from 20 outings, on 19 points, Maroons are just a position and three points away from the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, Sam Ssimbwa’s URA FC returned to winning ways with a 2-0 against Kirinya Jinja SSS at Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
Skipper Shafiq Kagimu headlined the game with a brace, his first coming as early as the third minute of the game, before adding another one in the 49th minute.
A win lifted URA to fourth on the log with 32 points from 20 outings, Kirinya Jinja SSS remain 11th with 24 points.
