Maroons come from down twice to save point against Police

By Football256 Team

The derby of forces ended without a winner as Maroons and Police FC played to a two all draw at Luzira Prisons ground in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. It was the same result in the first round.

Juma Balinya and Ruben Kimera scored for the visitors as Eddie Kapampa and Silvester Okello scored for the home team to slightly stay away from the red zone.

Both sides entered the game in need of maximum points, Maroons wanted to stay safe from the relegation monster while Police wanted to increase their chances of  top four finish.

Police was the first to get a scoring opportunity but Safi Nasur Basan’s tap in was stopped by the wood work in the 12th minute of the game.

In the 18th minute, Maroons also missed a golden opportunity, Isaac Otto’s tap in was coincidentally denied by wood work.

Maroons had another chance in the 38th minute but Emmanuel Olinga’s shot was blocked by Ivan Bukenya who seemed off colour on the day.

Police broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, their marksman Juma Balinya sent a heavy shot which seemed very hard for Maroons’ Emmanuel Akol to save, it was his 17th of the season.

Maroons equalised in added minutes of the first half, Eddie Kapampa scored from a freekick following Ivan Bukenya’s foul on Isaac Otto.

Ruben Kimera made it 2-1 for Police FC after a classy finish from Johnson Odong’s cross in the 48th minute of the game.

In the 62nd minute, Police FC custodian Davies Mutebi saved his club from conceding the second, he punched away Bronson Nsubuga’s long shot and immediately needed medical attention.

After various attempts, Maroons finally equalised through skipper Sylvester Okello’s 11 minutes left on the clock.

A draw left Maroons 13th on the log with 26 points while Police climbed to ninth with 33 points.
