Bulemeezi registered their maiden win of 2020 Airtel Masaza Cup with an emphatic 4-0 victory against Ssingo at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Thursday afternoon.
Goals from Gabriel Eragu, Hakiramu Muzanyi, Bernado Kateregga and Sulaiman Ssesazi’s penalty helped the defending champions go past Ssingo in an entertaining encounter.
Bulemeezi started off in high gear as Eragu put them ahead four minutes into the game turning in captain Simon Katumba’s cross. Ssingo turned on the heat creating a couple of goal scoring opportunities.
Dathan Mubiru nearly finding the leveller four minutes later after riding past a couple of challenges, but Bulemeezi goalkeeper Ibrahim Banalya pulled off a brilliant save to deny him.
The defending champions doubled their lead in the 35th minute, Hakiramu Muzanyi scoring a free header at the back post from a corner kick.
Bulemeezi cruised through a more physical second half, and Muzanyi was denied a brace by Fred Ntege who had replaced Joseph Ssempijja in the 70th minute.
Muzanyi was then brought down for a penalty which holding midfielder Sulaiman Ssesazi scored for his side’s third goal before Bernado Kateregga completed the hammering in the 91st minute.
Elsewhere, Mawogola shared points with Buruuli in a goalless stalemate in the other game in the Butikiro group.
Action in the Masaza Cup continues on Saturday, December 19 when Butambala square off with Mawogola in the early kick off before Bulemeezi face Buluuli later in the evening.
