Agile playmaker Titus Ssematimba has dedicated his golden goal against Bulemeezi to all the fans of Buddu who have supported their team through thick and thin during the 2020 Airtel Masaza Cup.

“Tito” as commonly known by his peers scored the all-important goal for Michael Lukyamuzi’s charges thus booking a slot in the final.

Ssematimba’s effort past Bulemeezi’s custodian Haman Mugoye arrived as early as the sixth minute of the emphatic semifinal game.

“I dedicate the goal against Bulemeezi to all our fans thanking them for the ultimate support rendered to us throughout all conditions,” Ssematimba opened up to Football256.

“I must say this has been quite a tricky tournament to play with games coming fast and of course without the fans, we have had to dig as deep for the results.”

“It’s from that point that I would like to thank our manager and coaching staff which did all the required work behind the curtains to make sure we are in the right shape,” he added.

Buddu last won the tournament in 2016, and they will have to keep the champagne on ice indefinitely after the final was postponed to a yet to be confirmed date.

But as Ssematimba and company still dream of their second title, he acknowledges that the decision to postpone the final gives them a golden opportunity to solve a couple of problems.

“I believe that football is a game where you are punished for your mistakes and the less you error the more you enlighten your chances of bagging a great result,” he elaborated.

“So, with the added time we get for preparations, we have a golden opportunity to try and work on our mistakes and analyze more on what is required of us to take on a quality team like Gomba.”

“A final game of such a tournament comes with a lot of ambitions and pressure but it is upon us the players to fight for the pride and honour of the mighty Buddu.”

“Therefore, I believe this added time will help players to organise themselves and come back focused and stronger,” Ssematimba added.

Ssematimba, a naturally gifted player with key attributes like close ball control, quick change of pace, vision and fancy dribbles has been of great help in the journey of Buddu to the finals with four assists and one goal.

Buddu will face Gomba in a repeat of the 2016 final, which the former emerged victor 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal time.
