Liverpool has received a boast four days before their crucial Merseyside derby clash against eternal football foes Everton FC.
One of the Club’s most reliable defender Joel Djob Matip has returned to first team training for the first time in weeks after recovering from a muscle strain.
Matip was a part of the Liverpool group in training on Tuesday as Liverpool players returned from the international break with the tough fixture in mind.
The defender who was very involved in the 2019 UEFA Champions League success is hoping to stay fit for long this time around.
The erstwhile Schalke 04 centre-back featured in just nine games for the Reds last campaign, scoring once.
Matip had a difficult last season with the 2020 English- Champions having suffered from a spate of injuries.
He has won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup and the English Premier League with Liverpool in the last two seasons.
In all, he can boast of five trophies in four years at the Club.
Recovery from the 17th career injury is just what Matip and Liverpool want at the moment.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup lone goal scorer for Cameroon has not featured for Cameroon in the past six years.
