KCCA FC Junior team and Uganda Cubs (U17) striker Oscar Mawa has clinched the Fortebet Real Star Footballer of the month award for December.
Mawa beat his senior teammate Brian Aheebwa and Mawogola goalkeeper Micheal Lutaaya to scoop the final award of the year.
The awarding ceremony which was graced by Uganda’s High Commissioner to Canada Hon. Joy Ruth Acheng as the chief guest was held at Copper Chimney, Lugogo on Tuesday morning.
Mawa guided Uganda Cubs to the CECAFA U17 Challenge Cup triumph in Rubavu, Rwanda and eventual qualification for the AFCON U17 tournament in Morocco.
He finished the tournament as the top scorer with six goals including a hat-trick against Kenya, a brace against Ethiopia and a single against Djibouti in the semi-finals.
Aheebwa has been imperious for KCCA, bagging seven goals in five games as he leads the scoring charts in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Meanwhile, Lutaaya was unbeatable, keeping four clean sheets as he guided his side Mawogola to the quart-finals of the 2020 Airtel Masaza Cup for the first time in nine years
Nine nominees were nominated for the awards in three disciplines including football, golf and cricket.
The golf category was won by Joseph Kasozi of Kilembe Golf Club who beat Christopher Baguma from Entebbe Golf Club and Uganda Golf Club’s Michael Alunga while Christine Amayo beat Aziz Damani duo Rachael Ntono and Immaculate Nakisuuyi in the Cricket category.
