KCCA midfielder Gift Ali ‘Gigi’ is enthused with the club’s latest signing Stefano Mazengo Loro.
The Italian joined the Kasasiro Boys on a two-year contract, after impressing the club’s coaching staff as he trained with the team since January.
The 26-year-old who has juggled studies and football has featured for sides in Spain, Holland and the UK but started out in the Kampala Kids League (KKL) programme which had players like Saddam Juma, Denis Iguma and Gift Ali ‘Gigi’.
Gigi who will be Mazengo’s teammate when the 2020/2021 season gets underway in October says that the Italian’s arrival is purely on merit and that he will prove doubters wrong.
“He (Mazengo) is a good midfielder and definitely a good addition to the club,” Gigi told Football256.
“Having played together at youth level, I must say his abilities are unmatched especially his passing of the ball and he is too a good leader,” he added.
Mazengo becomes the second European to feature in the Uganda Premier League joining Illic Milos who turned out for four-time league champions URA FC and Sports Club Victoria University.
The left-back quit competitive football and now runs an online marketing firm.
KCCA FC who are preparing to regain the league title from Vipers SC which will be the club’s 14th in their history were selected by FUFA to represent Uganda in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.
KCCA FC means business in the transfer window, having already signed Charles Lwanga and Ashraf Mugume, before Mike Mutebi’s side acquired Mazengo as their third signing.
