Mbale players dominate Toldo’s squad ahead of Uganda Cranes task

That said, the Eastern Select team has been training since Monday and is set to play a build up match friendly with a Select Mbale team on Thursday after which Toldo will be expected to trim the numbers.

Kataka FC head coach, Godfrey ‘Toldo’ Awachango, who is also in charge of the Eastern Select team set to lockhorns with a locally based Uganda Cranes has named a twenty-two man squad as preparations intensify.

This particular regional tour match under the “Cranes Namutima” slagon will be played this Saturday, September 25th, at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.

The match is viewed as the commencement of Uganda’s preparations for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier doubleheader against East African rivals Rwanda. The first leg will be away on 7th October and the return leg at home on 10th October 2021.

That said, the Eastern Select team has been training since Monday and is set to play a build up match friendly with a Select Mbale team on Thursday after which Toldo will be expected to trim the numbers.

Mbale’s Kataka FC is unsurprisingly the most represented on the shortlist with up to seven players, followed by Mbale Heroes who have up to four players along with Tororo side ADMIN FC.

Busia is represented with three players, all from Busia Young side, as Sky Sports and CRO, both Mbale teams have two and one players respectively while the other name comes from Namusula FC.

Meanwhile, Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic also summoned 25 locally based squad for the cause with omissions of players from Vipers SC, BUL FC and Express FC who have engagements in the Uganda Cup.

The Cranes will enter residential camp this Thursday, 23rd September 2021 at the Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi and depart for Mbale on Friday morning ahead of the match.
