The fixture between Mbarara City FC and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA FC) has branded itself as a popular game of draws after the two sides shared spoils once again.
Mbarara and URA settled for a one-all stalemate at the Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara on Friday in their 2020/2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season opener.
Debutant Steven Mukwala scored for the visitors while Jude Ssemugabi was on target for the Ankole Lions as both sides drew for the sixth time running.
There has been no a winner between the two ever since Mbarara City gained promotion in 2017 but URA assistant coach William Lutalo is optimistic that his side will soon get an edge in their barren affair partner.
“Since they got promoted, they’ve been a stubborn to us but we are continuously planning on how to get an edge over them and I am optimistic we shall soon be winning this fixture,” Lutalo said after the game.
“Look at the opportunities we had in the game, we should have won this game but we didn’t not utilize them and we later on hurt in the last minutes, so it shows you how we are supposed to conduct ourselves in order to win,” he added.
There were two penalties missed in the game with each team winning one. Mbarara’s Bashir Mutanda was denied by the upright midway through the first half.
Mukwala also missed from the penalty spot with goalkeeper Muhammad Ssekeba saving hie effort in the second half.
This encounter has now ended in 1-1 draw on four occasions whereas the other two meetings have finished goalless.
URA will be at home against Soltilo Bright Stars FC at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje on Wednesday whereas Mbarara will visit SC Villa on Tuesday, December 8.
