Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA FC) has acquired the services of striker Brian Aheebwa on a free transfer from Mbarara City.
KCCA have for a long time been chasing the signature of the 22-year-old but that’s now history as they’ve finally landed their man after agreeing to personal terms on a switch to StarTimes Stadium.
After the expiry of Aheebwa’s contract at Mbarara City FC, he decided not to extend his stay with his boyhood club leaving as a free agent.
The two parties have reportedly agreed to a three-year contract which will run until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Aheebwa becomes Mike Mutebi’s fourth acquisition of the window following the arrival of Ashraf Mugume and Charles Lwanga from Vipers SC and SC Villa respectively and Italian Stefano Mazengo.
The forward played a vital role as the Ankole Lions gained promotion to the top-flight division in 2017. He leaves as the club’s all-time top scorer with 33 goals in all competitions.
In the 2019/2020 season, Aheebwa managed eight StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) goals and 14 in all competitions, his best season ever.
Aheebwa’s tally means he outscored any of the current Kasasiro Boys providing quick proof of how important he may be for KCCA who are in need of firepower up front.
