Mbarara City bids for second spot in the league as they face Onduparaka at home on Wednesday evening in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at Kakyeka Stadium.
A win for the Ankole Lions who are currently third on the 16 team log with 36 points, will see them surpass second placed Vipers by a point, the latter don’t play until Friday when they host bright Stars at Kitende.
Onduparaka are currently seventh with 27 points from 19 outings but have picked up just a point against bright Stars (1-1) in their last five league games on the road. The last time they won away was last year on December 1st against Express (2-0).
“It’s because teams prepare really well at home, you have to utilize your home advantage always but that doesn’t mean we are tourists in kakyeka because Mbarara are at home,” Onduparaka FC assistant coach Sadiq Sempigi told www.football256.com before adding.
“We have to fight hard to get results, every field in the country is our home ground, we expect hard such that we get the results. Every team sometimes has a bad run but we are fighting hard to get back to our normal ways,” he added.
Out of the ten league games Mbarara City has played at home, they have managed eight wins, two draws and are yet to lose a game at home.
“The truth, we are not doing well but in football everything can happen, we are looking for maximum points from Mbarara and shall be playing to achieve that,” said Onduparaka FC captain Rashid Toha.
As Onduparaka search for their first win off their Wednesday hosts, Mbarara will be looking for a second win in four meetings, the other two have ended in stalements.
