Mbarara, KCCA FC in a fourth straight draw

By Clive Kyazze

Two seasons, four meetings, KCCA FC and Mbarara City were involved in another stalement in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Kakyeka Stadium.

The barren draw meant that both teams are yet to pick a win off each other since the 2017/2018 season.

KCCA FC came into this one without manager Mike Mutebi who was serving first game of his four match ban as Morley Byekwaso took charge.

On the other hand, Mbarara City welcomed back inspirational shot stopper Ali Kimera from suspension and always rose to the occasion when it was required him to.

Mbarara have been the revelation of the 2018/2019 season and it was evident as they frustrated KCCA FC defensively but also caused some shockwaves on the other side of the pitch.

The few times KCCA FC broke away their scoring touch eluded them, Julius Poloto, Allan Kyambadde, Peter Magambo, Muzamir Mutyaba all had chances to break the ice but couldn’t.

They either couldn’t bury their chances or Kimera was too good for the Lugogo side to handle like he has been against all the opponents Mbarara has faced this season especially at Kakyeka.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, KCCA FC turned to the young Sadat Anaku for inspiration with five minutes left on the clock but the graduate from the junior side could do little to save the day.

In the meetings between the two sides, only once (2018) has it produced goals it was the one all draw at Lugogo, it was 0-0 in the first meeting at Kakyeka last season.

The result puts the points gap between log leaders KCCA (37 points) and second placed Vipers at six points, but Vipers have a game in hand. Mbarara remain third on 29 points, two behind Vipers.
