SC Villa Presidential aspirant Dennis Mbidde Ssebugwawo reportedly missed the electoral committee meeting that happened on Wednesday.
Mbidde sent a representative who allegedly refused to sign against the Code of Conduct guidelines, contradicting earlier communication by the Villa Electoral Committee (VEC).
“As VEC met with candidates in the club presidential race, candidate Dennis Mbidde skipped the meeting whereas Ssegona attended and signed an undertaking to follow the code of conduct. Mbidde’s representative refused to sign,” a source said.
On Wednesday, in a statement by VEC and signed by the chairman Ronald Kiggundu, it claimed that both candidates Mbidde and Medard Lubega Ssegona had met, discussed, agreed and signed on the code.
“The Villa Electoral Committee (VEC) met with the Presidential Candidates in the upcoming elections for the term 2021-2025 for a briefing before the candidates officially start their campaigns,” the statement partly stated.
“Candidates shall confirm their compliance with the Campaigns Code of Conduct issued on 14th August 2021 by appending their signatures to the Code of Conduct.”
Football256 also understands that candidate Mbidde did not tend in an apology to the committee for his social media allegedly discriminatory statements as had earlier been claimed by the committee.
“Candidate Dennis Ssebugwawo Mbidde regrets and retracts earlier posts on social media and messages where he may have used inappropriate language regarding this electoral process.”
Mbidde, in his counter-reaction, says: “I did not apologize for anything. What did I do wrong?” he asked via a social media comment.
“I do not think I did anything wrong. Dismiss it with the contempt it deserves the electoral committee is politicizing this process,” he alleged.
The campaign period officially started on Tuesday, 17th August and will go on till August 25, with the election slated for August 28, 2021, but what an encounter it promises.
