Miya joins Ukrainian side

Uganda Cranes international Farouk Miya has joined Ukraine top-tier side FC Lviv, Football256.com understands.

According to Transfer market, the 24 year old has signed a short-term contract with the Ukrainians which will run up to June 2022.

The former Vipers SC player has been without a club since he was released by Turkish side Konyaspor at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Besides Vipers and Konyaspor, the talented attacking midfielder has also featured for Belgian outfit Standard Liege (2016-2018).

In between the Standard Liege spell, he had loan stints at Royal Mouscron in 2017 and Sabail in 2018. He also played for Gorica between 2018-2019 before joining Konyaspor.

He has been one of the Cranes’ most consistent performers in recent history. He was a key piece in leading Uganda back to the Africa Cup of Nations after 39 years in 2017.

He was also integral in the 2019 AFCON campaign held in Egypt where the Pearl of Africa went as far as the Round of 16. He has so far played 58 games in the national senior team jersey, scoring 19 goals.

His new side, Lviv is currently 12th on the 16 team log having gathered 17 points in 18 outings. They have existed since 2006 and are currently under the guardianship of head coach Oleg Dulub.
