A UGX19 B sponsorship deal from MTN is undoubtedly the best FUFA has ever struck and the federation president Moses Magogo believes it is even bigger than that of Airtel beyond the monetary aspect.
It is a five-year sponsorship deal that will see MTN take care of the Uganda Cranes, Crested Cranes, FUFA Awards, and some FUFA competitions; FUFA Drum, Juniors League, Super 8, and Super Cup.
“We all know that when we announced that Airtel sponsorship it had a time limit and if you go back and calculate that time, it elapsed,” Magogo told the media at Serena Hotel on Wednesday.
“Contracts expire and others begin so I believe that this is much bigger if you look at the figures involved.”
“But also the experience and excitement that MTN comes along with for me is even more important than the money,” he stated.
Airtel’s maiden sponsorship deal with FUFA was UGX3 B for four years back then in 2013.
In 2017 the deal was renewed for another four years and the money increased to UGX. 10B but after its expiry, the two parties did not renew their marriage.
MTN’s new five-year deal with FUFA is bigger than the two four-year deals FUFA and Airtel had over eight years combined.
