Police FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru claimed that the news about Uganda Cranes legendary striker Geoffrey Massa joining his side are fake news.
A local publication Kawowo Sports had earlier published that the former Cranes captain had joined Police Football Club technical staff.
This was after Police chairman posted a tweet on February 8th indicating that Massa and David Yiga would be joining the club’s coaching staff
The three of us won the Super League trophy for @UgPoliceFC in 2005. David Yiga a defender & captain, Geofrey Massa, a striker & later @UgandaCranes captain, & myself as Team Manager. Glad that Geoffrey Massa will join the coaching team for his club. Welcome on board legends. pic.twitter.com/Jf6fQHKQnr

“I just read about this in Kawowo Sports but they are fake news, I don’t know about the coming of Massa, he is not among my technical staff members,” he told www.football 256.com before adding.
“I choose my technical staff for myself not the chairman, on Friday I was with the chairman but he never talked about it,”
“My technical staff members includes Richard Kansole who is a goalkeeper coach and coach Pius Ngabo, Massa is not inclusive,” he added.
Mubiru insisted he doesn’t need someone like Geoffrey Massa on his technical team who lack experience.
“Massa has never coached anywhere and I don’t think that I need him on my technical staff,” he told this website.
Police FC is currently 7th on the 16 team StarTimes Uganda Premier League log with 27 points from 18 outings.
The 2005 league winners have managed eight wins, three draws and seven losses, scoring 28 goals and conceding 30 in the due course.
Police’s next fixture is a visit to Kirinya Jinja SSS FC in The Mighty Arena in Jinja on Tuesday.
